Daily ritual

These are not routines, but tiny acts of rebellion, ways to slip ritual back into your daily life, back into your skin, back into your belonging.

Reclaiming rhythm within this colonial driven world that stole it from us. It’s about tending to the body not as a machine, but as a vessel of memory. Connecting and anchoring in our bodies through our senses.

When we invite daily ritual back in, we remember that our bodies are not problems to be solved or tools for productivity. They are living, breathing parts of country. Ritual sloes us down long enough to listen to our own pulse, to feel our breath and return to ourselves.

Each small ritual is a pausing, touching, breathing, anointing and resting.

You can introduce small ritual in to your life in any way that feels right and good for you, the act of ritual as rebellion is merely an sequence of actions used as a symbol of intention to reclaiming and remembering yourself.

Here are a few small ways to easily invite in a bit of daily ritual without all the fluff, otherwise feel into what way feels good for you to activate your inner rebel with ritual.

Morning

Before looking at your phone, place both hands on your body ( heart, belly or womb space) and breathe deeply and slow in for 4 and out for 8 at least 3 times. Connect in and ground into your body. Set your intentions for the day eg; “ Today is going to be an amazing day” “Everyday in every way everything always works out in my favour” “Everyday cell in my body is awakening to a new possibility”

Mid day

Pausing in the chaos/ busiest part of your day and reconnecting back into your body. Stillness is a great ritual roller to invite in for the rush sickness we all often feel living within the colony. Step away from whatever it is you’re doing, even for 2 minutes. Get your middle 3 fingers and start by placing your middle finger on the thirdly eye with each other finger place gently next to the nostrils. Close your right nostril then take a deep slow breath for 4 in through your left nostril then close your left nostril and pause before opening your right nostril and breathing out for 4. Breathe back in your right nostril for 4 then close, open left nostril and breathe out for 4 follow this cycle for at least 20 sets and or until you feel at ease. Remember the stillness and slow and invite it in .

Evening

A shedding of the day that was, you may already have a bit of routine for the end of your day. Skin care routines, showering, or you might not .. the point is making it ritual bringing in intention to the actions. Wash your face, hands of body but do it slowly, intentional with each brush of the skin a deep release of the day. Switching up that overactive brain train of thoughts for intentional thoughts about all that went good in your day. Self devotion and stillness are great invitations for this space.

Ritual without the pressure

In whatever which way you decide to bring ritual and intention into your life, it’s important to remember there aren’t rules outside the ones you create for yourself. You dont have to do them all, or even do them “right”. They’re here for you to access when you want to , gentle reminders to slow down and decolonize your mind and remember who you are at your core outside the noise of the world.
